Today I’m here to show you my TBR for this read-a-thon. You can see my previous post here.
This read-a-thon is from 4th to 10th of January.
I’m a bit behind my review books so these will be all for review and you’ll see in the future their own review posts for each one and I think is a great way to read a few of them!
Set in Australia in the year 2031, this story is science-fiction comedy at its best.
When Dave, a hopeless but lovable 34 year old, meets Alexandra, the girl of his dreams, he feels as though his luck has finally changed. But due to his ineptness with technology, he tragically loses contact with her.
Meanwhile, the lust for supremacy of two powerful Americans ignites a bitter feud. Their fight reaches around the globe and soon entwines not only Dave and Alexandra but also a superstar football player nicknamed ‘God’.
Their final meeting precipitates an event that no-one saw coming.
When an Oxford Professor stumbles upon an old naval Captain’s log, he unwittingly discovers what many scholars now agree is one of the greatest maritime adventures in history.
In 1821, Captain Fintan McAdam set sail from London, solo, in search of adventure. During his journey, he discovered incredible new worlds and interacted with their amazing inhabitants. They forced him to confront his enemies within, learning much about himself.
Captain Rum, as told in McAdam’s own words through his journal, is a tale of discovery, despair and delight. It will keep you enthralled through many a stormy night.
Do you enjoy tales of ocean explorers such as ‘Robinson Crusoe’ by Daniel Defoe?
Or adventures such as ‘Gulliver’s Travels’ by Jonathon Swift?
What about movies that depict a lonely sailor’s struggles, like ‘Lost’ with Robert Redford, or ‘Cast Away’ with Tom Hanks?
Or do you simply enjoy historical fiction such as ‘Cold Mountain’ by Charles Frazier?
If so, you will love reading about the heartbreaking struggles and wondrous adventures of ‘Captain Rum’
From the award-winning author of The Echoes of Love. Love, mystery and desire under the scorching Spanish sun.
A young writer becomes entangled in an illicit gypsy love affair, pulling her into a world of secrets, deception and dark desire.
Summer, 1976. Luz de Rueda returns to her beloved Spain and takes a job as the biographer of a famous artist. Haunted by this forbidden love, she meets her new employer, the sophisticated Andrés de Calderón. Reserved yet darkly compelling, he is totally different to Leandro but almost the gypsy’s double. Both men stir unfamiliar and exciting feelings in Luz, although mystery and danger surround them in ways she has still to discover.
Luz must decide what she truly desires as glistening Cádiz, with its enigmatic moon and whispering turquoise shores, seeps back into her blood. Why is she so drawn to the wild and magical sea gypsies? What is behind the old fortune-teller’s sinister warnings about ‘Gemini’? Through this maze of secrets and lies, will Luz finally find her happiness… or her ruin?
